July 3, Katy Schlake:If you’ve ever downloaded a ringtone, logged onto the browser, or responded to emails on your cell phone then you’ve used your cell phone company’s 3G network to actually get the information to your phone. Are you still wondering what that means?

3G is the data network that actually transmits info to and from your cellular phone. It simply stands for “third generation”.  For those out there who don’t understand terminology, like megabits and megabytes, I won’t go into detail about how fast the 3G networks is.

 To put it simply, DSL for your home Internet is approximately how fast 3G is. LTE on the other hand is supposed to be as fast as cable Internet (which for those of you who know, cable kicks the crap out of DSL’s speed any day).
