America Movil picks Alcatel-Lucent for LTE infrastructure in Latin America

Latin American wireless services provider America Movil has selected Alcatel-Lucent to provide infrastructure for its 4G LTE network rollout in Latin America. The deployment will commence with America Movil’s operator Claro commercially launching high-speed mobile broadband services to subscribers in Puerto Rico in the coming weeks.

Latin American wireless services provider America Movil has selected Alcatel-Lucent to provide infrastructure for its 4G LTE network rollout in Latin America. The deployment will commence with America Movil’s operator Claro commercially launching high-speed mobile broadband services to subscribers in Puerto Rico in the coming weeks. Claro’s service offering will use Alcatel-Lucent’s LTE solution, including its lightRadio portfolio of products.

“Claro Puerto Rico continues to lead the market with the most advanced technology on the island’s most powerful network,” said Enrique Ortiz de Montellano, President of America Movil’s operations in Puerto Rico. 

The Alcatel-Lucent solution deployed by Claro in Puerto Rico also provides a future evolution path to ensure that Claro continues to offer breakthrough, state of the art network connectivity in Puerto Rico, company said in a statement.
