KPN to Roll out LTE in February 2013

Dutch mobile service provider KPN is testing LTE network with newly acquired spectrum and plans a large scale launch of LTE services as soon as February 2013. Operator expects to have covered approximately 50% of the Dutch population by mid-2013 and nationwide coverage in the second half of 2014.

Dutch mobile service provider KPN is testing LTE network with newly acquired spectrum and plans a large scale launch of LTE services as soon as February 2013. Operator expects to have covered approximately 50% of the Dutch population by mid-2013 and nationwide coverage in the second half of 2014.

From February 2013, KPN’s LTE network will be available in Amsterdam and the northern part of the Randstad. After covering approximately 50% of the Dutch population by mid 2013, operator will gradually roll out LTE network in rest of the country to provide nationwide 4G by summer of 2014. 

Last month, Dutch Radiocommunications Agency awarded mobile spectrum rights to four operators in the Dutch auction and distributed 41 licenses covering 800MHz, 900MHz, 1800MHz, 2.1GHz and 2.6GHz. KPN won 15 of the licenses.
