Cellcom Israel has launched its LTE network in the country after having received the Israeli Ministry of Communication approval to use a 5MHZ 1800MHz frequency band (already in the Company’s possession) for its LTE network, under certain conditions, even before the completion of the previously reported 4G frequencies tender. Last month, Israel Ministry of Communications had published a tender for 1800MHz frequencies, for 4G technologies (such as LTE, LTE Advanced).
The Company plans to continue the rapid deployment of the network in order to achieve a wide and high quality deployment by the end of the year.
Cellcom Israel already operates an HSPA 3.5 Generation network in addition to GSM/GPRS/EDGE networks and serves approximately 3.049 million subscribers.
