GSA: 145 LTE Networks in Commercial Service

GSA has confirmed that 145 operators have launched commercial services in 66 countries so far. GSA further reports that 104 new operators have committed to invest in LTE network deployments in 2012, raising the total number of committed operators to 330 in 104 countries.

1800 MHz is prime band for LTE deployments and expected to remain so. 40% of all commercial LTE operators, use 1800 MHz spectrum either as a single band system, or as part of a multi-band deployment, in 39 countries. The second most popular band for LTE deployments is 2.6 GHz (band 7).

The number of LTE subscriptions have increased almost 10-fold in the year to September 2012, reaching 44 million.

In 2012, 97 networks were commercially launched in 37 more countries than 12 months ago. There were 47 commercial LTE networks at the end of 2011..

GSA forecasts that 234 LTE networks will be commercially launched in 83 countries by the end of 2013.
