Harbinger makes AT&T & Verizon unhappy

Verizon and AT&T have expressed their anger about the restrictions placed on them by Harbinger Capital Partners LP. LP has planned to deploy an LTE wholesale network in the US using satellite spectrum.

The promise that the two wireless giants would not be able to purchase the SkyTerra spectrum was accepted by the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) as one of the conditions attached to Harbinger’s purchase of Reston, Va.-based SkyTerra.

According to Lightreading, the two largest carriers are unhappy about proposed restrictions placed on their ability to rent capacity on the $6 billion network. AT&T has been complaining to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and describing the deal as “targeted favoritism.”
