Verizon confirms LTE launch in 30 U.S. Cities by 2010

Verizon has once again confirmed the plans to launch LTE in 30 cities however they have not released city names yet.

Verizon has once again confirmed the plans to launch LTE in 30 cities however they have not released city names yet. Instead company says that LTE launch will happen in 30 National Football League Cities.

Also Verizon execs say that initial LTE rollout will have wireless laptop cards as opposed to LTE smartphones. eWeek reports that  first phase of the Verizon Wireless 4G network is designed to support download speeds of 5Mbps to 12Mbps with upload speeds of 2 Mbps to 5Mbps. Expected latency is in between 30 to 150 milliseconds. 

Last month Intomobile reported that Atlanta, Athens – GA, Dallas, Denton, Fort Worth and Weatherford – TX will have LTE this year, additionally, a good chunk of east Massachusetts. However Verizon has not confirmed it.

Verizon has already said that by 2013 the LTE coverage map will match it’s current 3G coverage map. Company will likely add LTE coverage in some places that don’t have 3G today in 2013.
