Singapore may be ready for LTE as early as Q2 2011

CNET- If local telco MobileOne (M1) had its way, Singapore could be ready for a Long Term Evolution (LTE) high-speed mobile broadband network by the second quarter of 2011.

CNET- If local telco MobileOne (M1) had its way, Singapore could be ready for a Long Term Evolution (LTE) high-speed mobile broadband network by the second quarter of 2011.

Speaking to CNET Asia this morning during a demo of its LTE technical trial, M1’s chief technical officer Patrick Scodeller said the company will start installing base stations in about 1,400 locations across the island some time in October this year. The full works should be completed by Q1 2011.

SingTel also announced in November last year that it will carry out LTE trials in the first half of 2010 in Australia, Indonesia, the Philippines and Singapore in collaboration with Optus, Globe Telecom and Telkomsel. In Singapore, this will begin end-March.
