US carrier AT&T has now 4G LTE network live in 400 markets covering nearly 240 million people. AT&T today launched its LTE network in Alexander City, Ala.; Concord, N.H.; and Jamestown, N.Y. AT&T 4G LTE service also expanded today in Fresno, San Francisco and Stockton, Calif.; Washington, D.C.; Springfield, Mo.; Columbus, Ohio; Nashville, Tenn.; Houston, Texas; Seattle and Tacoma, Wash.; and Charleston, W.Va.
Operator’s LTE network is expected to cover nearly 270 million people by year-end 2013. Over 90 percent of AT&T’s mobile data traffic now runs over enhanced backhaul that supports both HSPA+ and 4G LTE data traffic.
AT&T 4G LTE build expected to be substantially complete by summer 2014.
AT&T also plans to add more than 10,000 macro cell sites nationwide by year-end 2015, as well as deploy more than 40,000 small cells and add more than 1,000 Distributed Antenna Systems to increase the density of its wireless network.
