China Mobile plans to team up with foreign carriers to establish a TD-LTE trial network overseas in the next six months, reports China Daily.

Wang Jianzhou, chairman of the world’s biggest cellphone carrier, said many telecom operators in Asia, Europe and North America have expressed an interest in developing TD-LTE networks.

“We will cooperate with foreign operators to develop scale TD-LTE trial networks in their countries in the second half of this year,” he said.

China Mobile has been testing TD-LTE with multiple vendors and established a large-scale trial network for the Shanghai World Expo. Alcatel-Lucent recently announced that they have successfully completed the first high-definition video call over a TD-LTE network at the Shanghai World Expo. Motorola also announced use of TD-LTE dongle at the TD-LTE Showcase Network Opening Ceremony, during which it demonstrated a high-quality video wall including 24 simultaneous video streams.

China Mobile Ltd plans to test its TD-LTE networks in three coastal cities first, namely Qingdao, Xiamen, and Zhuhai, in the second half of 2010.

China Mobile the world’s top mobile carrier is expected to roll out a state-of-the-art mobile network based on new LTE technology as soon as 2011.
