China Mobile to Trial TD-LTE in 6 Cities

China Mobile will invest $225 million to establish TD-LTE trial networks in six cities. Operator will install a total of 3,060 base stations. 

China Mobile will invest $225 million to establish TD-LTE trial networks in six cities. Operator will install a total of 3,060 base stations. 

According to Digitimes, the six cities are Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Xiamen, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen. China Mobile has invited equipment suppliers to participate in the trial, including Huawei Technologies, ZTE, Datang Mobile, Alcatel-Lucent Shanghai Bell, Ericsson, Nokia Siemens Networks, and Motorola. 

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has designated the 2570-2620 MHz frequency band for the trial.

China Mobile s expected to roll out a state-of-the-art mobile network based on new LTE technology as soon as 2011.
