FCC Initiates Consultation on LTE-Unlicensed (LTE-U) and Licensed Assisted Access (LAA)

FCC has released a Public Notice dated 5th May 2015 to enable a transparent discussion on the implementation of LTE-U in conjunction with licensed commercial wireless services using Licensed Assisted Access (LAA) technique. 

FCC has released a Public Notice dated 5th May 2015 to enable a transparent discussion on the implementation of LTE-U in conjunction with licensed commercial wireless services using Licensed Assisted Access (LAA) technique. 

Although, The 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) is developing the LTE-U and LAA standards and Companies like Verizon, Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, Qualcomm Technologies, and Samsung have formed the LTE-U Forum for developing technical specifications. Then also, The Commission wants to provide an opportunity to all interested parties to enable a fully participatory and transparent discussion about LTE U and LAA technologies and how they will co-exist with other technologies, including Wi-Fi. Interested parties can submit their views before the Commission on or before June 11, 2015.
