German mobile spectrum auction bids reached EUR4.2 billion, as bidders continue to raise their offers for blocks in the valuable 800 megahertz band.

German mobile spectrum auction bids reached EUR4.2 billion, as bidders continue to raise their offers for blocks in the valuable 800 megahertz band. 800 megahertz band is the most expensive and valuable spectrum.

On 24th day of the auction after 200 rounds, total bids stood at EUR3.53 billion.

According to German network regulator Bundesnetzagentur and analysts, proceeds from the entire auction could reach up to EUR8 billion. Total bids are still far away from it.

The four operators [Vodafone, T-Mobile, E-Plus, and O2] are bidding in frequency auctions in the ranges 800 MHz, 1.8 GHz, 2 GHz and 2.6 GHz. The regulator is offering a total of 41 frequency blocks across the four frequency bands, which are expected to be used for LTE network deployments.
