The Malaysian Government is expected to auction nine blocks of LTE spectrum to nine wireless operators soon, says a report.

The Malaysian Government is expected to auction nine blocks of LTE spectrum to nine wireless operators soon, says a report.

According to thestar.com.my, four cellular and four WiMAX providers will each get a 20Mhz block of 4G spectrum and a ninth company, linked to billionaire Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukary, will also get spectrum.

Each player would get a 20Mhz block of the 2.5G and 2.6G spectrum, which comprise the 70Mhz and 120Mhz blocks respectively, or totalling 190Mhz.

The mobile providers expected to be awarded with spectrum are Celcom Axiata, DiGi.Com, Maxis, and U Mobile, while the four Wimax players comprise Asiaspace, Packet One Networks, Redtone International, and YTL Communications.
