Russian operators MegaFon and Rostelecom have successfully tested LTE network in Sochi. MegaFon and Rostelecom are General Partners of the XXII Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games of 2014 in Sochi.
Rostelecom reportedly used ZTE equipments for tests in the range of 2,3-2,4 GHz while MegaFon used Nokia Siemens Networks’ in the range of 2.5 GHz.
Now operators are waiting for decisions of the State Commission for Radio Frequencies (SCRF) to build 4G network for the Olympics.
According to MegaFon’s Deputy General Director Tigran Poghosyan, the company expects to get permission from SCR in October.
Earlier, in August this year, Rostelecom and MegaFon have tested the LTE network at a ski resort close to Sochi.
