Orange and E-Plus select Nokia Siemens Networks for LTE Rollout

Germany’s E-Plus Group and  Orange Communications in Switzerland  have selected Nokia Siemens Networks for LTE network deployments. In addition to LTE rollout in 1800 MHz band, the company will also modernize and expand the E-Plus GSM and HSPA+ networks.

Germany’s E-Plus Group and  Orange Communications in Switzerland  have selected Nokia Siemens Networks for LTE network deployments. In addition to LTE rollout in 1800 MHz band, the company will also modernize and expand the E-Plus GSM and HSPA+ networks. Under a five-year agreement, Orange has selected Nokia Siemens Networks to extend its radio access network as well as supply and build its LTE network.

Under the contract, Nokia Siemens Networks will expand E-Plus’ current HSPA+ capacity in the 2100 MHz band while modernizing its GSM network. As part of the contract, the company will deliver its radio access network and provide its Liquid Radio GSM software suite. Nokia Siemens Networks will also expand the capabilities of its NetAct network management system and deliver various services such as installation and integration, network optimization and build.

For Orange, Nokia Siemens Networks will provide its high-capacity Liquid Radio built on the Single RAN platform with Flexi Multiradio Base Station. The company is also implementing its Evolved Packet Core (EPC) platform, including Flexi NS (network server) and Flexi NG (network gateway). In addition, the company will implement its Circuit Switched FallBack (CSFB) voice call system to enable 4G smartphones to fallback to GSM and 3G networks from LTE network.

Nokia Siemens Networks will also provide its NetAct network management system to enable consolidated monitoring, management, and operation of Orange’s network. As part of its full turnkey solution, the company will provide network implementation, network optimization and care services.
