The two Polish mobile operators PTK Centertel (Orange) and P4 (Play) has been allowed by the regulator to create a joint venture for wholesale business providing access to broadband data.
The operators PTK Centertel and P4 will be able to create a common name to offer their services rather than using seperate brands. The new entity, whose name has not yet been determined, will take part in the tender for the provision of wholesale access to broadband data transmission in LTE.
In June, PTK Centertel and P4 had announced plan to create a joint venture for the LTE spectrum rights in 2.6 GHz frequency band. Polish regulator UKE (Office of Electronic Communications) had proposed the sale of only two frequency blocks – each of them too large to be in full use by one operator.
