Russian mobile operators Yota and MegaFon have signed an agreement on joint development of 4G LTE network.
Russian mobile operators Yota and MegaFon have signed an agreement on joint development of 4G LTE network. Under the agreement, MegaFon will be able to provide 4G LTE services using Yota’s equipments and Yota will be able to use MegaFon’s network infrastructure for LTE rollout.
“Cooperation with the MegaFon will allow us to implement plans to develop LTE network and allow customers of both companies use the fourth generation in 2012,” said Denis Sverdlov, Yota director.
According to Yota, the agreement on joint development of fourth-generation network serves as the task to introduce the most advanced communications technologies, as well as overcoming the digital divide in the country. The main task of the alliance is to provide subscribers with access to the latest technologies and services that make them more accessible and appealing by improving the efficiency of capital costs for the construction of LTE networks and reduce operating costs.
