Telenor Norway Introduces LTE for Mobile

Telenor has opened its LTE network for mobile phone usage as well. Operator’s LTE services so far were available on PCs and tablets only. Telenor launched LTE network in Norway two months ago in 11 cities and towns.

Since the opening LTE network, Operator has continued expansion at a rapid pace and expects to provide LTE coverage to more Norwegians by Christmas. The Telenor 4G network in Drammen, Fredrikstad, Sarpsborg, Skien, Porsgrunn and Kristiansand will open then. In the New Year Telenor will also introduce 4G in Tromsø.

Telenor is expanding and updating its mobile network in Norway and plans to complete it by the end of 2015. In addition to expanding 4G throughout Norway Telenor is also conducting a high-intensity expansion of the 3G network.

According to poprator, 90% of Telenor’s mobile customers have 3G coverage where they live, and the continuing expansion will ensure as much as 95 per cent coverage. By the end of 2015 nine out of 10 Norwegians will also be able to use 4G from Telenor, says Berit Svendsen, managing director of Telenor Norway
