TeliaSonera Launches 2G, 3G & 4G combined Modem

From 30th June, TeliaSonera is offering Samsung’s modem that works with 2G, 3G and 4G LTE networks. Modem is available for sales in Telia stores in central Stockholm and Visby. 

From 30th June, TeliaSonera is offering Samsung’s modem that works with 2G, 3G and 4G LTE networks. Modem is available for sales in Telia stores in central Stockholm and Visby. 

The new combined modem also supports Mac. The modem automatically switches between 2G and 3G. To switch between 3G and 4G needs to be temporarily shut down the connection and then re-connect. Developing the network and modem software will allow seamless handover between various networks early next year.

Telia’s existing 4G customers can upgrade at no cost to the new modem to replace the old modem in the store. Right now It costs 359 Swedish kronor per month until the end of the year after that it would cost 599 Swedish kronor per month.

A total of 25 locations in Sweden are planned for 4G coverage before the end of the year, from Luleå in the north to Lund in the south. Last week TeliaSonera opened LTE network in Malmo & Gothenburg, Sweden. In Q3,2010 time frame, TeliaSonera is expected to launch LTE in Gothenburg, Lund, Västerås, Malmö, Uppsala and Linköping cities.
