Vodafone Germany announces LTE expansion, tariff plans

Vodafone Germany, which is expected to launch LTE network in late September, has announced it’s expansion plans at a press conference at the IFA in Berlin.

Vodafone Germany, which is expected to launch LTE network in late September, has announced it’s expansion plans at a press conference at the IFA in Berlin. By December, Vodafone plans to serve more than 1,000 German municipalities with LTE. In March 2011, it will be 1500. By the end of 2011 the company plans to offer a comprehensive LTE network.

Vodafone also announced LTE pricing models for “LTE at home” service. The customers will get broadband access of 7.2 Mbps downstream and 10 GB for €39.99 monthly fee. With €10 more per month, customers can get 21.6 Mbit/s and 15 GB per month. 50 Mbps and 30 GB volume costs € 69.99 per month.

Another German operator Deutsche Telekom already has first LTE base station fully operational in Kyritz, Germany and plans to activate around 500 additional LTE transmitters by the end of the year.
