Yota launches LTE network in Russia

Russian mobile operator Yota (Scartel) has launched LTE network in Novosibirsk, Siberia.

Russian mobile operator Yota (Scartel) has launched LTE network in Novosibirsk, Siberia. Yota currently has 63 base stations installed  in  Novosibirsk, by March 2012, their number will increase to 150. Huawei has supplied the equipments.

Commercial Modems will be available to customers in their retail stores and partner networks on January 15th, 2012.

According to the operator, the network is ready for joint operation of several operators. In particular, the technical integration has already taken place with the MegaFon.

Earlier this month, Yota and MegaFon had announced an agreement on joint development of 4G LTE network. Under the agreement, MegaFon will be able to provide 4G LTE services using Yota’s equipments and Yota will be able to use MegaFon’s network infrastructure for LTE rollout.
