Bharti Airtel has launched LTE services in India in April, 2012 using TD-LTE. Airtel had bagged BWA spectrum in four telecom circles Kolkata, Maharastra, Punjab and Karnataka for Rs.3,314.36 crore in 2010.

Airtel has given a contract to Huawei for planning, design, supply and deploy LTE network to offer 4G mobile broadband services in Karnataka. Operator gave Nokia Siemens Networks a contract for deploying network and services in the Maharashtra circle followed by a similar deal given to ZTE for the Kolkata circle.
