MTC Launches 4G LTE Service in Namibia

Namibia’s network operator Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) has commercially launched its LTE network. According to MTC, it has significant LTE coverage in Windhoek, the capital city of Namibia and expects to cover the whole of Windhoek with 4G LTE by the end of July 2012 .

MTC has an ambitious goal to cover 45% of the current Namibian population with LTE in the next 12 months, including part of the rural areas, which compared with the current 3G WCDMA is only covered close to 32% based in urban areas.

Operator is offering LTE devices under Netman 4G packages. The dongles will be available  for the Netman 4G Extreme, with  a monthly subscription of N$399  , as well as  a Netman 4G Unlimited available for  N$999 per month. For Samsung Galaxy TAB 8.9 LTE Tablet, the monthly subscription of any Netman4G package of the 24 months contract will be increased by N$350 per month.  The smartphone Samsung Galaxy SII LTE is available to the Connect Smartphone Plus, for a monthly subscription of N$749 per month.

Huawei is the technological partner and supplier of the LTE technologies to MTC.
