Bhutan Telecom to Launch LTE Network in 1800 MHz Band

Bhutan Telecom plans to deploy 4G LTE service capability in Thimphu. Initially, operator intends to deploy a site each in Chubachu and Motithang. It is expected that customers will be able to avail the service within 0.5-1 km radius from these sites.

This service provided by Bhutan Telecom can support only data service which will be availed both through mobile handset and data cards with 1800 MHz (band-3), GSM 900/1800 and UMTS 850/2100 MHz frequency bands.

As the existing 3G SIM and data cards will not support the LTE service, customers will require new SIM and LTE data card to avail the service which will be made available by BT for sale at counters, once ready.
