Vodafone New Zealand has started rollout of LTE in Hamilton by switching on 4G at Waikato Stadium and Waikato Hospital and in provincial New Zealand with the launch of 4G at Coromandel holiday hotspots this week.

In addition, Vodafone has announced free 4G on all current On Account and SIM only plans, and increases in monthly data allowances across On Account and SIM Only packages for new and existing customers – at no extra cost. Data allowances on Vodafone’s Red and Red Essentials packages have been boosted. Red now comes with 2.5GB and the data on Red Essentials has increased to 1.5GB.  Customers with a $59 SIM Only plan will get 1.25GB data; those on a $39 SIM Only plan will get 1GB.

Vodafone’s current LTE network provides coverage to over 1.26 million Kiwis across nine towns and cities: Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Queenstown, Wanaka, Lake Brunner, Taupo, New Plymouth and Palmerston North.

As part of planned network upgrades ahead of the holiday season, Vodafone will roll out 4G to a further 20 places around the country before the end of the year.
