HTC plans to release an LTE phone next year, according to the company’s CEO Peter Chou.

HTC plans to release an LTE phone next year, according to the company’s CEO Peter Chou. In an interview with FierceWireless, HTC CEO said that HTC will release a phone for LTE networks sometime next year. He did not gave any more details however.

HTC EVO 4G, supporting WiMAX debuted in June earlier this year on Sprint’s Network. “HTC was the first with 3G smartphone and 4G smartphone, and we are definitely looking to future network technologies,” he said.

MetroPCS has already introduced first commercially available 4G LTE enabled handset, the Samsung Craft with it’s commercial LTE launch in Las Vegas.

Verizon Wireless, which has planned LTE roll-out this year, will initially offer LTE USB modems only. It plans to offer LTE handsets next year only.

With this announcement we can hope for HTC’s LTE phone on both Verizon’s & AT&T’s LTE network next year as HTC is already a smartphone supplier for both operators.
