March 7, 2010 – Node-H is demonstrating its Femtocell software running on Percello’s new 6100 chipset at the Femtocells Asia 2010 conference in Singapore. The software supports the highest HSPA uplink and downlink data rates yet seen on a single-chip femtocell, and can support at least 8 simultaneous calls.

Node-H 3GPP Iu-h femtocell software is specifically optimized for femtocells and has set performance records for the industry. Node-H has shown eight simultaneous calls and the fastest uplink and downlink HSPA speeds on the new Percello Quito platform which incorporates the 6100 chipset. By bringing the DDR memory onboard, the 6100 uses less power but provides more performance than its predecessor.

Although chipset specifications often claim high data rates, until they can be proven to work in a full end-to-end system, customers are justifiably sceptical. At Femtocells Asia Node-H is showing 14.4 Mbps HSDPA and 5.76 Mbps HSUPA using off-the-shelf HSPA USB dongles and typical user applications. Node-H’s software offering complements the Layer 1 software in Percello’s platform, resulting in a full system solution. Node-H’s software enables its customers to differentiate through supporting Operator customization, whilst guaranteeing compliance within the eco-system of the various femtocell system integrator offerings.

The new 6100 chipset from Percello feature on-chip DDR memories so that the security of the device is enhanced. Recently reported femtocell hacking attacks relied on access to the external memory bus, which is no longer possible with the on-chip memory. This, along with the security specifications of the soon-to-be-released 3GPP Iu-h devices, addresses the security concerns of network operators. Node-H software also supports Self-Organizing Network capability so that operators can more easily administer a network consisting of thousands or even millions of femtocells.
