Verizon Wireless says that by 2013 the LTE coverage map will match it’s current 3G coverage map.

Verizon Wireless says that by 2013 the LTE coverage map will match it’s current 3G coverage map. Verizon’s  LTE rollout is on track to commercially launch its LTE 4G network in 25 to 30 markets in 2010, covering 100 million people.

In subsequent years, an equally aggressive growth plan will result in full nationwide coverage in 2013.

During a webcast today Tony Lewis, Verizon’s VP of Open Development, said that the company will likely add LTE coverage in some places that don’t have 3G today in 2013. The company will continue doing that in 2014, which is when the carrier is expected to complete the nationwide deployment, according to Light Reading.

Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE trials in Boston and Seattle indicate the network is capable of average data rates of 5 to 12 megabits per second (Mbps) on the downlink and 2 to 5 Mbps on the uplink.

In another development Verizon Wireless has selected CETECOM as a laboratory to test devices for operation on the nationwide 4G LTE network that Verizon Wireless is building on the Upper 700 MHz C-Block spectrum.
