Motorola Passes MIIT’s TD-LTE Lab Trial

Motorola has announced that it has passed China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) 2.3 GHz  full feature set lab trial with a 100 percent pass rate. 

Motorola has announced that it has passed China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) 2.3 GHz  full feature set lab trial with a 100 percent pass rate. 

The trial, completed at MIIT’s TD-LTE lab, measured key TD-LTE functionalities; radio frequency (RF) performance; operation, administration and management (OAM) capabilities; interface conformity; hardware readiness and backhaul capability.

Motorola also successfully demonstrated the transmit mode 7 (TM7) capabilities – an implementation of the beam-forming technique that enables operators using TDD spectrum to maximize coverage, capability and quality of service (QoS) according to company statement.

“Motorola has once again demonstrated the maturity and advancement of our TD-LTE solution. Passing the comprehensive MIIT TD-LTE lab trial is an important milestone to bring TD-LTE to a large-scale field deployment. The success of TD-LTE deployment in China, bolstered by the growing cooperation of an ecosystem, bodes well for its adoption in other regions of the world and Motorola’s ability to help operators launch early commercial TD-LTE networks,” said Dr. Mohammad Akhtar, corporate vice president and general manager, Motorola Solutions in Asia Pacific.

The TD-LTE lab trial utilized Motorola’s latest commercial LTE hardware platform, including TD-LTE capable 4Tx/8Rx radio head and Motorola’s fourth-generation, LTE-Advanced-capable WBR 700 LTE baseband.  Motorola’s TD-LTE 4Tx/8Rx radio head supports advanced multiple input and multiple output (MIMO) schemes, including multi-user (MU) MIMO and beam-forming.
