Clear Mobitel UK has filed a formal competition complaint with the Jersey Competition Regulatory Authority (JCRA) against both the Jersey Electricity Company Ltd and Newtel Holdings Ltd alleging a serious breach of the Competition (Jersey) Law 2005.
Clear Mobitel had been granted a license by Ofcom in September to operate LTE mobile broadband services in Jersey. The service provider will begin work in the late autumn to trial 4G LTE broadband network in Jersey.
The complaint claims a denial of access to essential infrastructure that Clear Mobitel needs to compete in the Channel Islands telecommunication markets.
As a direct result, Clear Mobitel says that it has been substantially hindered in effective entry into these markets to offer highly competitive advanced Internet Protocol (IP) services, including the trial delivery of promised 4G LTE.
