Latvian opertaor Latvian Mobile Telephone (LMT) has launched commercial LTE services. Operator is using existing LMT 1800 MHz frequency range and is offering ZTE MF820 Internet modems to it’s customers.
“This is an opportunity for current and potential customers LMT use the latest mobile technologies, which could lead to new business and entertainment ideas for the future. The new rate will allow to use the mobile Internet at speeds that compete and sometimes even ahead of the fixed Internet,” said LMT President Juris Binde.
According to operator’s website, first 4G equipped LTE base stations are located in Jurmala, the range will be gradually expanded in parallel with the 3G network. LMT 3G network is already available in 87% of Latvian territory and by the end of coverage exceeds 90% of the territory.
