Vodafone Spain plans to roll out commercial deployment of LTE Advanced to enable speeds up to 300 Mbps in download in October. Furthermore, the operator is testing Voice over LTE technology to facilitate High Definition voice calls (HD Voice) with setup time less than one second.
Vodafone Spain plans to roll out commercial deployment of LTE Advanced to enable speeds up to 300 Mbps in download in October. Furthermore, the operator is testing Voice over LTE technology to facilitate High Definition voice calls (HD Voice) with setup time less than one second.
Commercial LTE Advanced service will be available in Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia in October. Samsung Galaxy S5 with category 6 capability will be available to support LTE-A networks.
The deployment of network will be using bands 1800 MHz and 2600. Operator will add band 800, when available, to enable LTE-Advanced availability in more environments. Vodafone Spain had already done pilot of LTE Advanced service in Madrid last December with download speeds up to 300 Mbps.
Operator launched 4G services in Spain in May 2013 and its 4G coverage currently reaches more than 619 municipalities, among which are the 80 cities with over 70,000 inhabitants, all provincial capitals, the autonomous cities of Ceuta and Melilla and the tourist areas. Operator plans to provide 100% 4G coverage in all cities of over 25,000 inhabitants by December.
